I wanted to let you know of a fundraising event I will be holding this month, March 2010, bringing together dance and Playback Theatre. I feel very privileged to have got onto the 5 Rhythms Teacher Training.
What is 5 Rhythms? 5 Rhythms is a simple and profound movement practice where you can’t get anything right or wrong. It is place to explore, allowing whatever to move through you.
What is Playback Theatre? Playback Theatre is an original form of improvisational theatre and community ritual, in which audiences are invited to tell stories from their lives and watch them played back on the spot!
The day will consist of dance, where you can come and do your own thing and watch Playback Theatre. Often we have stories in our dance. In using Playback today, there is the possibility to bridge from the dance into seeing feelings, moments and stories played back before you! Or there might be stories from previous times. Or you might just want to be entertained…
If you come to the dance please wear comfortable clothing that you can move, do not wear socks on the floor; trainers or dance shoes can be worn, but not outside shoes. Good idea to remove jewellery and watches as anything sharp can catch and be potentially dangerous.
Sunday March 14th will start from 4.00pm with dance and then 6.30pm Playback Improvisational Theatre. It will take place at Candid Cafe, which is about 5 minute walk at the back of Angel Tube  (Northern Line) on Torrens St, London.
The invitation is to come to one or both events. With the Playback Theatre, you don't have to tell a story but come along and be entertained!! The experiences I have had though, as both a performer and audience member is, something quite magical happens, in the sharing, a sense of community evolves. Each one is unique.
